Linda Hughes has a fantastic new exhibition on at Craft Victoria untill the 12th June. Metonymy explores the role of the ‘stripe’ as a device to attract attention and as a visual element to represent danger. I would love to own one of her pieces, her work is really amazing. Check out some of her other pieces at Studio Ingot in Brunswick Street.

Swedish Hasbeens is a beautiful collection of hand made wooden shoes, leather bags and belts. They use high-quality natural grain leather and Swedish Alder wood. I love the simplified construction with a touch of 70s style, check out more of their stuff here.
One can never have too many handbags or shoes …

I’m so excited about the upcoming show of one of my favourite amazingly talented Melbourne designers Beci Orpin. The shows entitled ‘the infinite shape of rainbows’, to be held at Lamington Drive, April 16 – May 8. Beci says that “…all the works are going to be brightly-multi-coloured or black & white. i am also looking at opposites…” Love to see you next Thursday (15 April), the opening night with free lamingtons of course! x x

Another amazing architect | designer I’ve discovered via designboom is emmanuelle moureau. This french born, Tokyo based designer is responsible for all these amazing images above.

The work of swedish artist Michael Johansson has really inspired my imagination. His lifesize DIY model kits with household objects: hair driers, bicycles, beds, all seem so easy to assemble, inspite of their heavy welded frames. This concept of toy model making has been used recently in a fantastic show “Toy Stories” hosted by James May, now airing on ABC1. James builds a lifesize spitfire using plastic injection molding tecniques similar to Aifix models, great stuff! Check out the other fantastic episode, building a LEGO house.
